I remember buying this comic in 1989. I’d seen the Hernandez brothers in “Comic Book Confidential” on my birthday that summer and the next time I was in a comic book store (Atlantis Fantasy World in Santa Cruz) I bought this. However it made no sense since I hadn’t read any of the issues before it so I started saving my pennies and would go to the comic store and spend all my money on L&R comics to figure out what was up.

I can’t believe I’ve been doing this for 24 years now. No matter where I’ve lived, or how much money I’ve had, I’ve always bought these (and later the Clowes and Bagge comics), and I’ve taken this collection all over the country as I’ve moved around.
